RPOOL Mirror

we need to fdisk the partition of the second drive with:

pfexec fdisk -B c13t1d1s0

Copy label from the original rpool member

pfexec prtvtoc /dev/rdsk/c13t1d0s0 | pfexec fmthard -s - /dev/rdsk/c13t1d1s0

Attach mirror drive to the pool

zpool attach -f rpool c13t1d0s0 c13t1d1s0

Install grub on the second drive.

installgrub /boot/grub/stage1 /boot/grub/stage2 /dev/rdsk/c13t1d1s0

Zpool creations

Raid 10 with spare

raidz1 with zil and l2arc

Resize XFS partition.

Unmount device

umount /mnt/nfs

load block device into parted

parted /dev/xvdc

change units to ‘s’

unit s

remove partition

rm 1

Recreate new partition

(parted) mkpart
Partition type? primary/extended? primary
File system type? [ext2]? xfs
Start? 2048s

omnios iscsi

iscsi target isn’t configured out of the box with omnios, you need to install the target:

[email protected]:~# pkg install pkg:/network/iscsi/target

then enable

[email protected]:~# svcadm enable stmf

omnios showmount: RPC: Program not registered

On a vanilla install of omnios, shutdown command fails due to the system being unable to execute showmount.

To resolve this issue you must enable NFS which also requires that you share a directory, below are the steps involved:

echo 'share -F nfs -o ro=test -d "test directory" /export/home' >> /etc/dfs/dfstab

svcadm enable network/nfs/server

to ensure this has worked correctly execute


this should not return any errors.. simply execute shutdown and you should be back on your way!
